NOTE: Intents must be filed electronically – paper Intents will not be accepted.
For your convenience, we have created a systematic easy to follow checklist to the right, which will help you determine if you are ready to File an Intent to Graduate. Before you begin, read the Important Information below.
INTENT TO GRADUATE FEE
There is a $60 graduation processing fee that every student must pay when applying for graduation. Graduate students must pay an additional $50 for Comprehensive Exam fee. Fees will be charged through TROY account.
DATES FOR FILING
Note: Intents are not accepted after the filing deadline.
***See the chart below***
CHANGES TO YOUR SCHEDULE
Should you elect to change any course(s) you have selected for your filing term, and/or your graduating term, or if you need transient authorization, please confer with an Academic Advisor so that the change(s) or transient coursework can be posted to your degree program to determine whether you still meet all of the requirements for graduation.
GRADUATION EXIT EXAMS
Associate and bachelor degree candidates are required to take the Measure of Academic Proficiency and Progress Exam (MAPP) PRIOR to graduation. If you fail to take this exam, you will not be permitted to graduate. A capstone exam is required for business majors. A grade of “B” or better is required in the course in order to graduate.
A major Field Test (MFT) is also required for several majors. Please visit the testing page or contact your advisor for further testing information.
Masters degree candidates are required to take a comprehensive exam that tests student’s knowledge gained in the area of study. If you fail to take this exam, you will not be permitted to graduate. In the event you fail the exam, you will not graduate and will be asked to re-file the INTENT TO GRADUATE paperwork and pay fees again. Published term deadlines to file Intent will apply. Please visit the testing page or contact your advisor for testing information.
CHECK YOUR TROY EMAIL
The student Services Office will be communicating regarding graduation through your TROY email account. Please make sure that you check this account on a regular basis during this time, whether you are enrolled or not.
TRANSIENT CREDIT
If any courses are taken at another institution in transient, or if you elect to attend another school as a transient student, you MUST ENSURE THAT AN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT be issued FROM the other school TO your Troy University home location before the end of your last term of enrollment. Failure to provide the official transcript in the time prescribed will result in being removed from the graduation roster.
ALTERNATE CREDIT
All official scores from CLEP, DANTES, etc., must be received by your local Records department before your Intent to Graduate form is filed.
